For You Coffee Drinkers

My husband drinks alot of coffee. I dont drink coffee but I make it for him often. Did you know that their are so many ways to recycle your used coffee grinds?

Used coffee grinds can be used for great fertilizer by mixing it in your soil. It even feeds the worms which help your garden.

Or if you have places that are being taken over by insects or slugs sprinkle your used coffee grinds around those areas and you will soon eliminate the problem by making them run, fly, or crawl away.

How about those pots and pans you just can not seem to get the grease and yuk out of. Scrub your pots and pans with your used coffee grinds to clean them.

I bet you did not know you could rub the coffee grinds all over your dogs and it will be used as an organic flea dip.

Their are so many other things to use your used coffee grinds for so the next time you start to throw away that soaked coffee filter full of used coffee grinds, take it outside and sprinkle it around your garden.

Natural Lice Treatment “The Olive Oil Hat”

It is true, their is a natural lice treatment out there that works better then any of the lice treatments that contain chemicals you can buy at the store. Putting these lice treatments that you buy at stores on young children can be very harmful and make them sick. Here is something better for them to use. Saturate scalp and hair in Olive Oil. Put a shower cap on and let them where it over night. When they wake up wash their hair with Dish soap and then do a regular shampoo and conditioning. Other lice treatments will not kill the eggs and it is so tough trying to get all the eggs out with the little comb when they are attatched to the hair. The Olive Oil  will smuther the lice and the eggs and loosen the eggs so that you can comb them out more easily. The bonus to this is an olive oil treatment makes you hair alot softer and helps you get rid of dandruff or dry skin. Our experience only took one time and our daughter had it really bad from her kindergarten school plus she has long thick hair. We tried a couple different lice treatments from the store first and none of them worked. After being told not to use them anymore because it is harmful and will make her sick we were advised the Olive Oil treatment. If needed to you can do this treatment once a week and by the third week everything should be gone for sure. Feel free to comment with you experiences.

Vegetable Fertilizer

How would you like to start gardening? Gardening is a good way to teach your children about a more healthier way to eat. Planting your own organic garden and letting your children go pick the fruits and veggies that they want with dinner can be a great way to keep them interested. Did you know? A good fertilizer to make on your own would be to take a bucket and put first and used veggie and food waste, grass clippings and on the farm my dad always used horse manure for good compost. As the temperature gets hotter it decomposes faster. This is a way to keep your garbage down and keep your fertilizer packed with nutrients for those flowers, veggies, and more.

Earth Craft For Kids

Here is a great craft for young kids to do who like art. It relates to earth and combines there artistic abilities at the same time. My daughter made this craft when she was three years of age at a festival on an organic farm that we go to every year. It is part of a tree that she took and painted a picture. Then she strung a piece of string or you can use hemp through it to make a necklace. I hang it on my window mirror in my van to remind us of the festival.

Affordable Nontoxic Cleaners

Do greener cleaners really work?

Yes, you can get more greener cleaners now that are affordable and great for your health and environment.

The clean smell we love is actually toxic synthetic chemicals like ammonia and chlorine. If you are willing to try greener cleaners look for products that list all their ingredients such as Ecover, Seventh, Generation, and Trader Joe’s.

A few good cleaning products are baking soda, distilled white vinager, and Borax.
